The proposed mass wedding of 100 couples in Sokoto State will cost N32 million.
The Commissioner of Religious Affairs Alhaji Mani Katami who revealed this, said the wedding had been scheduled to hold in the next one month.
Katami who spoke in Sokoto on plans for the exercise, said the state government would pay the bride prices and each of the brides would be given mattresses, beddings and other household items.
The commissioner added that each of the brides and grooms would also be given seed capital to enable them start small scale businesses.
He however pointed out that they were expecting the report of the main committee set up for the purpose of planning the mass wedding, that subsequently, they would organize a one-week training on skills acquisition for the would-be couples
He said measures had been taken to conduct the planned mass wedding in accordance with Islamic injunctions, and the couples would be watched to ensure the sustainability of the marriages.
