Busoga Gets Female Archdeacon

Rev Canon Robinah Bamulesewa has been enthroned as the Archdeacon of Busesa Archdeaconry, becoming one of the first most senior female cleric to ever serve the church in that position in the Busoga sub-region.

The Busesa Archdeaconry was curved out of Iganga District in eastern Uganda.

Speaking at St Steven Church in Buyanga Sub-County in Iganga District at the weekend, the Bishop of Busoga Diocese, the Rev Paul Naimane, urged Christians to support the new archdeacon.

“… you should give her your allegiance and total support,” he said.

The new Busesa archdeaconry will cover six parisheso of Bumozi, Kalalu, Bulyansime, Bukoteka, Nsale and Busesa parishes in Central Busoga.

Warned

Warned. Bishop Naimane also warned against engaging in divisionism, hatred, witchcraft and other evils which he said can destroy the church.

Biblical teachings. He urged Christians to have faith and adhere to the biblical teachings of peace, love and togetherness.

Background. She started out as a priest at Namasere church of Uganda in 1996 before being promoted in 1998 as a parish priest in Bugiri, a position she held until last month when she was announced as the new Archdeacon for Busesa by the Bishop of Busoga Diocese, the Right Rev Naimane.
