A member of the House of Representatives from Kaduna State, Muhammad Usman (APC, Kaduna), has empowered about 500 women and youths for self-reliance in his Makarfi/Kudan Federal Constituency.
The event, which took place in Makarfi town yesterday, saw 40 women getting a sewing machine each, 20 motorbikes to 20 male youths, 10 tricycles and another 10 power generating sets distributed to other beneficiaries.
Similarly, 400 people were given N10, 000 each for small-scale businesses, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) women leaders and their deputies from the two local governments got N25, 000 and N20, 000 respectively.
The APC acting chairman in the state, Shuaibu Idris, who distributed the items to the beneficiaries, advised other lawmakers to imbibe the kind of gesture done by Rep Usman, which he said would go a long way in ameliorating the plight of their constituents.
While thanking the lawmaker for the gesture, which he said was part of the party’s agenda, Idris urged the beneficiaries to ensure good use of the items, saying they should also assist their neighbours through the items.
Speaking, Rep Usman called on his constituents to continue to be patient and support the APC-led government at both federal and state levels through prayers.
