The wife of the outgoing chairman of Abaji Area Council, Hajiya Khadeejat Yahaya Garba, who was kidnapped by gunmen at her husband’s Gigbe village of the council, has remained in captivity 14 days after.
A member of the family who spoke with our reporter yesterday, said the abduction of the chairman’s wife two weeks ago, has become a source of anguish to the entire family, saying the husband has remained devastated.

“In fact, up till this moment that I am talking to you, we can’t even reach the abductors on their phone again, which is seriously causing apprehension to the entire family. Anytime we try to reach them their phones are always switched off,” a family member said.
When contacted, the Police Area Commander in Gwagwalada, ACP Olufemi Abinwaja, said the police were not directly involved in the operation of tracking down the kidnappers.
He said the  council chairman has since involved men of the State Security Services (SSS) whom he believed were on top of the situation.
He however said that his men are still in the forest trying their best to ensure that she was rescued alive without any harm.
Effort to speak with the FCT Police Commissioner, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, were not successful, as he did not pick calls put across to him.
