Today marks the 105th International Women’s Day, an event that got its start when 15,000 trailblazing women marched through New York City to demand voting rights and better working conditions.

A century later — despite many outstanding female achievements and advancements — the event’s original aim of full gender parity has yet to be realized. Read on to find out what it means to be a woman in 2016.
