Anything that is the applaud of men is irritating to God. There are questions we should ask ourselves all the time. What does God look for in those He uses? What makes a work great before God? What does God measure in the work of man? We don’t fix our gaze on what we can see because what we can see is temporal and what is unseen is eternal. One of the things that God looks for in His work are things not seen, God does not use anything temporal to measure His works. The variables of God are not what we see, man does not have capacity to see what is unseen. It takes God to see what is unseen. Whatever you are doing will be weighed from God’s eternal point of view. God does not go by what will soon be gone. When it comes to God valuing His work, He doesn’t go by what is seen (That is temporal things). If you are wise and you know God, you will invest in things that are not seen.
To appear higher than you really worth, is to fall head long in shame when reality done on you. It is to suddenly face unchangeable reality you least prepared for, it is to meet disappointment in eternity. It is to face shame among mere mortals, who once honoured you and carried you on their shoulders. Sin will put you in a pit, you will never expect.
Case study of Rehab the harlot.
Rehab is the great grand mother of David. She was mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus. The first thing God found in her was that she accepted the message of God. Rehab feared the Lord, when you lose the fear of God, you get too familiar with Him. One of the things that Rehab did that God will not forget was that God used her as an instrument in the permanent defeat of Jericho.
The fear, honour, respect she gave to God she has not seen. We place crowns on empty heads and disregard God’s choice of instrument, simply because we cannot see as God sees things.
