The conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States intensified on Wednesday as Tehran warned that Washington would “bitterly regret” sinking an Iranian naval frigate, in a development that has further widened the ongoing regional war.

The warning came as the war entered its sixth day, with both sides launching new rounds of attacks that have raised fears of a broader military confrontation across the Middle East and beyond.

Iran said more than 80 sailors were killed after a U.S. strike sank one of its frigates off the coast of Sri Lanka, while 32 injured crew members are currently receiving treatment in hospital. Authorities also reported that about 60 sailors remain missing, sparking search-and-rescue operations in surrounding waters.

Tehran condemned the attack, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a precedent that could have serious consequences for the United States. Iranian officials warned that Washington would face retaliation for the strike.

Meanwhile, Israel continued its military campaign against Iranian targets. The Israeli military said it had begun another day of airstrikes on Tehran, targeting strategic locations as part of its ongoing operations against Iran’s military infrastructure.

Iran responded by launching another wave of missile attacks toward Israel, triggering air raid sirens across several cities and sending millions of residents rushing into bomb shelters.

The escalating hostilities have intensified global concerns that the conflict could spiral into a wider war involving multiple countries.

Political tensions are also rising in Washington. In the U.S. Congress, Republican lawmakers blocked a motion aimed at limiting President Donald Trump’s authority to conduct military operations, effectively allowing the administration to continue its current strategy in the conflict.

The war has already caused significant casualties and infrastructure damage, and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation appear limited as both sides continue to exchange threats and military strikes.

With missile attacks, naval losses, and expanding battle lines, analysts warn the confrontation could mark one of the most dangerous escalations in the region in recent years.
