The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Kizito Bonzena, has resigned from the PDP and defected to the APC, citing the party’s national factional crisis.
Bonzena confirmed that 15 other PDP lawmakers have also submitted letters announcing their defection. With the move, all 24 members of the Taraba Assembly are now in the APC.
He described the decision as being “in the interest of the state,” urging residents to support the government.
Former Speaker Peter Diah welcomed the lawmakers, saying their move aligns Taraba with the ruling party at the centre.
