Arise News Channel has confirmed the death of its 29-year-old anchor and producer, Somtochukwu “Sommie” Maduagwu, following an armed robbery at her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja on Monday, September 29.

In a statement, the station described her as a vibrant journalist and lawyer whose voice had become familiar to viewers nationwide. Tributes have poured in from colleagues, civil society, and the legal profession, with many calling for swift justice.

The police say investigations are ongoing.
