The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, will on Thursday begin the commissioning of completed projects and the flag-off of 12 new road and infrastructure works under the Light Up Abuja programme.
According to his media aide, Lere Olayinka, the programme will cover major districts and expressways, including Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse, CBD, Airport Expressway, Katampe, Garki, Jabi, Gudu, Mabushi, and Katampe Extension.
Projects lined up include:Commissioning of new access roads in Dakibiyu and Mabushi districts.
Full development of key arterial roads such as Arterial Road N1 (Wuye to Ring Road II), Northern Parkway (Ring Road II to Ring Road III), and N20 (Solomon Lar Way).
Construction of access roads to the Mabushi Bus Terminal, Renewed Hope Cities housing site in Karsana West, and the FCT Fire Service Station.
Rehabilitation of the 15km old Keffi Road (Kado Village to Dei-Dei Junction).
Provision of infrastructure in Guzape and Kaura districts.Residences for the heads of key courts in Abuja.The flag-off and commissioning activities will run from September 18 to October 16, 2025.
This comes weeks after Wike launched water projects in Bwari and Karu, as well as a sports centre in Kafe District and a Magistrate Court complex in Jabi.
