The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has confirmed that an Air Peace pilot and co-pilot tested positive for alcohol and cannabis after a runway excursion at Port Harcourt International Airport on July 13, 2025.
The Boeing 737, carrying 103 passengers from Lagos, landed beyond the safe zone and veered into the clearway before stopping. No injuries were recorded.
The NSIB has issued safety recommendations to Air Peace, urging stricter monitoring of crew fitness before flights and better training on handling unstable approaches.
