The Alara of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti State, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, has died at the age of 82, marking the end of an era for the community he served for over a decade.
In a statement released by his family on Saturday, the revered monarch was said to have passed on Friday. He is remembered as a leader whose reign was defined by service, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to the progress of his people.
Born on December 4, 1942, Oba Adeyemi began his career as a teacher before becoming a senior civil servant and later Sole Administrator of the former Ifesowapo Local Government. His dedication to public service paved the way for his ascension to the throne in 2009.
Beyond his role as a traditional ruler, Oba Adeyemi was a former Chancellor of Ekiti State University, where he spearheaded initiatives to improve educational standards and expand opportunities for local students.
The family’s statement praised his contributions to cultural preservation, conflict resolution, youth empowerment, and community development, noting that his impact “will forever be cherished as a testament to his enduring legacies.”
Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
