Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has approved an increase in the monthly allowance of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state from N20,000 to N30,000.
The announcement was made during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.
Governor Fintiri stated that the increment reflects his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of corps members.
“This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you,” he said.
He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to youth development, highlighting ongoing welfare initiatives such as food provision and enhanced camp facilities. Additionally, he revealed that plans are underway to construct a new NYSC orientation camp in the state.
The governor directed the NYSC State Coordinator to involve corps members with relevant qualifications—such as architects, civil engineers, and quantity surveyors in supervising the camp project.
Fintiri welcomed the new corps members to Adamawa, describing them as key partners in implementing government programmes, especially in the education sector.
“As bonafide citizens of Adamawa during your service year, you are expected to uphold discipline, engage in community development, and foster healthy relationships,” he said, emphasizing the importance of the orientation programme.
Also speaking at the event, Wali Yakubu, Commissioner for Youths and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board in the state, urged corps members to take the orientation seriously, respect camp rules, and embrace skill acquisition for future self-reliance.
The State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Osoro Caroline, praised the corps members for their discipline and participation so far. She also commended Governor Fintiri for his unwavering support, calling him “a visionary leader and a beacon of youth empowerment in Nigeria.”
The event concluded with the oath of allegiance, administered by Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, Chief Judge of Adamawa State, and a presentation of the NYSC journal to Governor Fintiri.
