The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has successfully repatriated 294 stranded Nigerian migrants from Agadez, Niger Republic as part of its continued efforts to assist Nigerians in distress abroad.
The rescue operation, coordinated by NEMA’s Kano Operations Office, took place on Monday and was confirmed in a statement released by the agency on Saturday.
According to the report, the returnees were brought back to Nigeria on two chartered Sky Mali flights, both landing at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
- The first flight carried 148 returnees
- The second flight brought in another 146 individuals
Upon arrival, the returnees were received and processed at the Hajj Camp Terminal in Kano, where NEMA officials, in collaboration with humanitarian partners, carried out profiling, health checks, documentation, and other necessary procedures.
To assist with their reintegration, NEMA provided transport fares to the returnees to help them reach their final destinations across Nigeria.
This humanitarian action is part of NEMA’s broader mission to support vulnerable Nigerians affected by migration crises, ensuring their safe return and reintegration into society.
