Former U.S. President Donald Trump will welcome Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House on July 7, as part of a diplomatic effort to advance a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages in Gaza. The announcement, confirmed by Netanyahu adviser Ron Dermer, follows a period of intensified discussions involving U.S., Israeli, Qatari, and Egyptian officials.

Trump has urged Hamas to accept what he described as his “final proposal” — a 60‑day ceasefire in exchange for hostage releases and humanitarian access, warning that terms would deteriorate if rejected. He emphasized that both Qatar and Egypt have been integral in mediating the deal, stating that Israel has already agreed to the conditions laid out.

Israeli military operations have recently intensified, with renewed airstrikes killing dozens in northern Gaza, including at least 60 reported in one strike, while ceasefire negotiations continue. It is expected to discuss not only Gaza, but also broader regional matters, including Iran, Syria, and long-term security during his visit.

Hamas has said it is reviewing the proposal but insists a full cessation of hostilities and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza must accompany any agreement while Israel maintains that the group should disarm. Humanitarian agencies warn Gaza’s health system remains on the brink, with hospitals overwhelmed and civilian suffering worsening as the war enters its 21st month.

Trump himself called the July 7 meeting “very firm” and expressed optimism that a ceasefire-and-hostage deal could be finalized next week, noting Netanyahu “wants it too”.
