The Kogi State Police Command has launched an investigation following a reported attack on the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba-Ihima, located in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, William Aya, the police were alerted in the early hours of April 16, 2025, by Yakubu Ovanja, an aide to the Senator. Ovanja reported that around 1:00 a.m., a group of three unidentified assailants, armed with cutlasses, attacked the property, shattering the front windows in an apparent attempt to force entry.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Okehi Division swiftly mobilized officers to the scene. There, they met Michael Akpoti, who was present during the incident. He recounted how the intruders damaged the windows and tried to break into the house before he raised an alarm, causing the attackers to flee.
In response, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to commence a thorough and discreet investigation. The goal is to uncover the motive behind the attack and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
This disturbing incident underscores the ongoing concerns about the security and safety of public figures and their families, especially in politically sensitive regions.
