The Nigeria Police Force has officially commenced training for 10,000 newly recruited constables across the country, with exercises beginning today, April 12th, 2025, at various police colleges and training schools nationwide.
According to a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the intensive training programme is designed to equip the recruits with the skills, knowledge, and discipline required to serve and protect their communities effectively.
Ahead of the training, an orientation ceremony was held on April 11th for Commandants and Directing Staff of the various training institutions. During the event, Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun—represented virtually by DIG Frank Mba, Head of the Department of Training and Development—urged training officials to uphold the principles of ongoing police reforms, maintain high ethical standards, and ensure professional conduct throughout the exercise.
The IGP also reassured the public and the recruits that his administration remains committed to improving the welfare of trainees, particularly in the areas of feeding, accommodation, and the creation of a conducive learning environment.
Furthermore, the incoming recruits were admonished to uphold policing ethics, maintain good character, and carry the values of integrity and service throughout their careers.
This initiative is part of the Nigerian Police’s broader efforts to strengthen law enforcement capacity, restore public trust, and ensure a more effective and accountable police force.
