The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared that Ramadan will commence in Nigeria on Saturday, March 1, 2025. This announcement follows the sighting of the new crescent moon on Friday evening in various parts of the country, including Maiduguri and Bama in Borno State.
The Sultan, who also serves as the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), made this declaration during a nationwide broadcast, urging Muslims to begin the month-long fasting period as prescribed. He also called upon the Muslim community to pray for peace and unity across the nation during this holy month.
