Social media is a great place for people to be seen, for people to be heard and most especially to be helped.  Last week, someone did a video of a girl lamenting about being sent home from school because her parents hadn’t paid her school fees. Oh, the girl was very angry and she even wished she was caned for not paying rather than being sent home. She didn’t want to go home and guess what? she spoke fluently and sweetly in Nigerian Pidgin. It sounded well like a correct Sapele, Warri girl. But this video which her neighbour uploaded went viral and people gathered to support this girl child. They decided to set up a trust fund for her education and that’s it, Success became her A success. I wouldn’t want to talk about those social media oppressors trying to water down the efforts of people on this girl, saying there are thousands of children roaming the streets that should be helped too. My take is, Yes, there are but this is the time for this girl to be helped and since you know there are thousands of children who need help, you too start and use your money to help them na and stop dissing people for helping.
