Still riding the wave of success that is Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’, Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira will soon be reuniting for a TV miniseries.

Their latest collaboration is an adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel ‘Americanah’.

Nyong’o had in 2014 announced via Instagram that she had acquired the rights to the book.

It was initially meant to be adapted into a movie, and Nyong’o was expected to reunite on the project with her ‘Queen of Katwe’ co-star Daniel Oyelowo.

But it will now be a mini television series.

According to Extra’s AJ Calloway who spoke to Nyong’o and Danai after the Hollywood premiere of ‘Black Panther’, the latter has signed on to be a writer on the project.

Americanah is next. And Danai is writing it,” the Oscar-winning Nyong’o was quoted as saying.

“And Lupita is the lead role,” added Danai.

Both women will serve as executive producers of the project.

Gurira also wrote ‘Eclipsed’ — the play that landed Nyong’o her first Tony nomination.

Although there is no confirmation that Oyelowo will still star in the miniseries, Lupita is expected to play the female lead ‘Ifemelu’.
