There are various kinds of up-do’s – Bun, Beehive, Chignon, French twist, Ponytail, etc. But the one worthy of this article today is the Crown braid.

During the Medieval Times, hair was used to communicate respectability; and older women feared that wearing hair in their face would label them as witches or heretics. It was also uncommon for people to bathe frequently, so hairstyles that were sleek were preferred to dirty hair.

Crown braids resemble thicker cornrows, where the hair is braided closely to the scalp. The braids are usually more defined than the typical cornrows. It can be created using natural hair or extensions. The style usually includes, at least, two braids in various designs.
