The Chairman, Parents Teachers Association, Dansol Schools, Lagos, Mrs. Olubukola Ajoku, has called on parents to invest in education projects which would benefit the less-privileged members of the society. According to her, doing so will ensure that every child in the society lives in comfort and safety.

Ajoku said this on Sunday during a fundraiser for Mavizzion School, Magbon, in the Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State.
“This is an outreach programme and we want to ensure that other children have comfort like our children. It is not enough to pay our children’s tuition and then sit back. These children attending schools without furniture and qualified teachers will end up in the same offices, markets and neighbourhoods as our children.

“We have been to the school and it was not a good experience. The classrooms were made with wood. The children made their chairs by themselves. There is no public school around and the children trek several kilometers. If we can buy a pizza of N11,000 for our children, we are saying we can still buy a pizza of N6,000 and give the balance to the less-privileged. Parents should get involved in projects that will benefit other children,’’ she said.

The event was organised by Dansol Christian Mission and the Church Music Network was aimed at raising N25m to provide infrastructure for Mavizzion School.

While giving her remarks, the President, DCM, Mrs. Adun  Akinyemiju, said the project, which started in 2013, would teach pupils the importance of selflessness. Akinyemiju, who encouraged schools to get involved in community projects, added that the next project for DCM was to build a Christian school in the northern part of the country.

She said, “We opened our doors to our first pupils 21 years ago and we used to donate to orphanages and schools for the blind. But, if you are not careful, the money will get into the wrong hands. We identify the Mavizzion School which is a Christian school, operating and serving several communities in Magbon. Besides, we need to teach our children to understand charity and principles of pupils.’’
