Emir Sanusi Tasks Traditional Leaders On Maternal Mortality

Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi 11 has called on traditional leaders in Nigeria to compliment government efforts towards reducing the the rate  of maternal  mortality in the country.

The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor gave the charge at a two-day retreat  for traditional rulers from Kano State held in Kaduna.

The retreat organised  by the Maternal New born Child Health – two (MNCH2) Kano office had all the 42 district heads of Kano State in attendance, with the aim of enlightening  them on their role at educating their people on ways to curtail the high rate of maternal  mortality within their domain in the state.

The emir who was represented  by the Galadiman  Kano, Alhaji Abbas  Sanusi, maintained that the Emirate  Council at its own level has established  a traditional  leaders council committee  on health to enlighten  their followers at the grassroots on the need for embracing  the ante-natal care programme for women.
