Sprint Couriers will donate sanitary pads to young girls in four junior schools in Kgalagadi and Central districts.

Addressing the media in Gaborone, co-founder of Sprint Couriers Ms Pinkie Setlalekgosi said they held an event called Pull for a Cause Charity on August 6, 2016, through this event they raised funds to make a difference in children’s lives.

Ms Setlalekgosi said with the donation from their sponsors they managed to procure sanitary pads which they will donate to the young girls in junior schools.

She stated that the chosen schools are Rethuseng Junior School in Charleshill, Mahupu Junior School in Takatokwane, Patikwane Junior School in Paje and Lehututu Junior in Hukuntsi.

She said P40 000 cheques were shared by Tsogang Trust in Mogoditshane and Touch A life Foundation and both the charities deal with the wellbeing of children.

“The reason for doing this is that we have realized that young girls cannot afford to buy sanitary pads especially those who reside in rural areas and we also heard that some students miss classes because they do not have sanitary pads,” she said. Ms Setlalekgosi added that hygiene is very important and as women it affects them.

Setlalekgosi also stated that their sponsors are Legola, Rolling Wheels, ICL Botswana, Land Rover Gaborone, Choppies, Medswana, Paper Club, Diagnofirm, BTC, Bokamoso and Acts Church worked towards making this a success and she thanked them for their support.

For her part ,Ms Thato Morwe the brand and marketing manager said they managed to procure 1 674 sanitary pads and each school which was chosen randomly will get 418 sanitary pads.

She said the number of the young girls in each school is around 300 to 400 and every student will get a pack of sanitary pads and she concluded that the sanitary pads will be delivered to the recipients next week.
