One man was reported dead and two others injured when a motorist rammed into a stationary vehicle along the Kubwa expressway.
A source said the victims who were returning from a vigil, parked by NYSC Junction along the expressway when the vehicle developed a problem at about 2.00 a.m. on Friday.
“The driver came out to fix the mechanical problem when someone on high speed from the town came and hit the car that was parked by the roadside and the driver was crushed and two people got injured in the bus,” he said.
He said the motorist who was driving a Volkswagen Jetta vehicle was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.
The source said the driver died on the spot and two people in the vehicle who sustained injury were taken to the Kubwa General Hospital.
The Divisional Police Officer in Kubwa, CSP Nurudeen Sabo, said the motorist was in police custody and that the injured people have been discharged from hospital.
He could not confirm to City News if the motorist was on alcohol but said the accident could have been avoided if he was not at top speed.
“He was arrested and is in our custody. The corpse was deposited at the Kubwa General Hospital mortuary,” he said.
“The fault was from the driver from the town who was driving very fast, he hit them though they were properly parked but we can’t confirm if he was drunk,” he said.
