The term “glowing” seems to rate universally at the top of the mind when it comes to skincare goals. So, after several studies, we collected valuable and tested information in pursuit of a healthy, radiant complexion and made a list to help you. This list only includes things that work exceptionally well.
1. EXFOLIATE
Light everyday exfoliation will lead to glowing skin with either a non-irritating acid cleanser or toner that dissolves dead skin cells on the surface. How so? Removing the outer layer of dead skin cells will help to smooth the texture of the skin, improve the rate of absorption of your skincare products, and brighten your complexion.
2. TAKE CARE OF YOUR GUT
Research shows that, from acne to eczema, underlying gut health conditions can manifest on the skin in many ways. There’s even a name for the connection: the gut-skin axis. Overall gut health is complicated and complex, and taking the time to learn how to care for and nourish your own unique gut flora is vital (for so, so many reasons) for everyone.
3.APPLY SKINCARE PRODUCTS RIGHT AFTER BATHING.
Moisture is perhaps one of the most important components of healthy skin. In addition to a quality skincare routine, the timing in which you apply your products will affect moisture retention. Right after bathing is the best time.
4. PRACTICE A FACIAL MASSAGE ROUTINE
Not only does it feel good, but facial massage can minimize stress and increase circulation, thereby helping to keep skin cells safe and helping to drain lymph. Commit to, or use a jade roller, a regular facial gua sha routine. It takes only a few minutes a day, and it will be worth the glow of the post-facial massage.
5. STAY ACTIVE
Exercise increases the flow of blood all around the body, adding to the skin essential oxygen, nutrients, and minerals. Bottom line: Working out leads to better-looking, brighter skin.
6. USE VITAMIN C
Vitamin C, which works on all skin types to balance out and brighten the colour, is one of the best topical ingredients for radiant skin, pure and simple. Vitamin C can fade hyperpigmentation, protect against environmental aggressors, brighten skin tone, and promote the production of collagen and elastin. The study to back up these claims is sound and vast. It’s the key to glowing skin.
7. STAY HYDRATED
For overall skin health, drinking enough water is important. Staying well-hydrated keeps the skin healthy, moisturized, and, you guessed it, sparkling. That’s not to mention all the other endless advantages of ample H20 drinking. Although the general rule is eight (8-ounce) glasses a day, water consumption is not one-size-fits-all, so listen to what your body needs.
8. DON’T SMOKE
From head to toe, skin included, smoking has adverse effects on the body. Smoking reduces the supply of oxygen to the skin, increases the accumulation of harmful free radicals and increases the risk of some skin cancers.
9. YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP IS VERY IMPORTANT
Insufficient or disrupted sleep can wreak havoc on the skin. Research has shown that poor quality of sleep can lead to enhanced signs of skin ageing (fine lines and wrinkles) and reduced function of the skin barrier. As with water, the basic rule of thumb for sleeping is eight hours but always listen to your body.
10. NO PICKING OF YOUR SKIN
Keep your (most likely dirty) hands off your face once your products have been used. Picking on the skin causes the situation to intensify and can eventually lead to inflammation and scars, pimples, injuries or just itchy areas.
