- HELLO V-NECKS
V-necks create an illusion of a not so broad shoulder by creating a split that takes attention away from the shoulder.
- SHOULDER PADS ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND
Get clothes without padding at the shoulder area. If you love a jacket or top so much but it has some padding at its shoulder area, ask the vendor if the padding can be removed. If it cannot be removed and you still want to get it, pair it with a ball skirt to balance out your lower half. Patterned pants are also great for balancing out your lower half with a padded shoulder jacket.
- EMPHASIZE YOUR WAIST
Creating the illusion of a tinier waist will help reduce the appearance of a broad shoulder. Peplum tops on skirts or trousers and ball skirts with defined waist will help you achieve this.
- THICK STRAPS
When going for a sleeveless gown with straps, make sure the straps are very thick. Tiny straps are forbidden.
- NO STRAPLESS, NO OFF THE SHOULDER
Strapless and off-the-shoulder tops draw too much attention to the shoulder, making them look broader than they really are. It is important that broad shouldered beauties avoid them or never forget to balance the bottom half with a flare as seen with peplum tops or ball skirts.
- NO PUFFY SHOULDER TOPS
Puffy shoulder tops will give you the same result that a jacket with shoulder padding will; create an appearance of a ridiculously broad and high looking shoulders. If you must wear them, remember to balance the bottom half out.
- WRAP IT UP
Wrap dresses and wrap tops are an absolute go to for broad shouldered queens. The V-neck created as a result is a huge reason why.
