Gunmen have abducted a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Mr. Nnamdi Abbah.
This came less than 24 hours after another chieftain of the party, Mr. Boris Neenwi, was killed in Tai Local Government Area of the state. Meanwhile, Senator Magnus Abe has condemned the alleged murder of his supporter, Boris Neenwi and three others in Tai LGA on Monday.
Abe, who is the senatorial candidate of the APC in Rivers East senatorial district, called on the Inspector General of Police to unmask the killers. Speaking through his media aide, Mr Parry Benson, he described the late Boris as his staunch supporter, adding that the deceased just completed a law degree programme.
In a similar vein, the APC condemned the reported murder, saying that the victims were shot dead in Tai local government. Meanwhile, Abbah, who is a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area of the state, was taken away by gunmen, Tuesday night on Elekahia axis of East-West road, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, according to a source that pleaded anonymity, was kidnapped around 8pm while returning to his house. The source said that the victim was driving towards Obiri Ikwerre end when he was stopped by the gunmen around Elekahia and taken away. Confirming the incident, Chizy Enyi, who is a close relation, said no contact had been established between the family and the kidnappers after the incident.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni said: “I am not aware of it yet. I will find out from the DPO in that area.” Meanwhile, APC chairman in the state, Dr Davies Ikan, reacting to the killing of Neenwi, gave the names of the others killed alongside with him as Manager Nkoba (male), Nornubari Love day (male) and Cecilia Loveday, a female.
He said: “Monday, October 3, 2016 was another sad day for members of the Rivers State APC, as a prominent member of the party, Neenwi, was felled by the bullets of assassins in Nonwa Tai. Killed alongside Neenwi were Manager Nkoba, Nornubari Loveday and Cecilia Loveday.
”Neenwi was a former Councillor, who hailed from Yeghe community. He recently finished his law programme from the University of Maiduguri. “We call on security agencies in Rivers State and at the federal level to leave no stones unturned to ensure that all those who have a hand in the killing of Neenwi and the young people who were gruesomely killed along with him are apprehended and made to face justice,” he said.
