Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the most courageous reformer in Nigeria’s history, asserting that the President’s results-driven leadership has secured the unwavering endorsement of Kogi’s youth ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Saturday to a massive crowd at the President Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, Governor Ododo marked the second anniversary of his administration by framing the gathering as a “vote of confidence” in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Addressing the sea of supporters, Governor Ododo emphasized that President Tinubu’s economic policies were born out of a necessity to prevent national collapse, rather than a desire for easy popularity.
“Any politician thinking only of re-election would have played safe,” Ododo declared. “But Jagaban faced the storm, took the heat, and led from the front. Today, we are seeing the results of courage: the naira is stabilizing, food prices are responding, and the standard of living is rising. This is not propaganda; this is about results.”
The Governor described the youth endorsement as an “informed decision” by a demographic capable of judging leadership by tangible outcomes rather than sentiment.
Governor Ododo highlighted that no previous administration has prioritized the youth demographic as extensively as the current one. He pointed to expanded opportunities in:
- Agriculture and Economic Inclusion
- Skills Development and Vocational Training
- Active Youth Participation in Governance
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, corroborated this by outlining state-level achievements, including the training of over 3,000 youths in high-demand technical fields such as CNG conversion, welding, and fabrication.
In a move to strengthen party cohesion, Ododo urged Kogites to reject ethnic politics and focus on collective development. He reflected on his own humble beginnings to inspire the crowd.
“I had no spoon as a child, not to talk of a silver or golden one,” Ododo shared. “If I can be here today, you can be anywhere tomorrow. Your hope is alive.”
The rally concluded with a formal pledge of support from youth stakeholders, who described the current administration as a “shared journey of stability and progress.” With the Governor calling for all stakeholders to set aside “ego and division,” the Kogi APC appears to be positioning itself as a central pillar for the President’s 2027 ambitions.
