The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) on Monday shut down fuel depots nationwide over claims that Dangote Petroleum Refinery is blocking workers from joining unions.

Talks between the refinery, labour unions, and the Federal Government dragged late into the night without resolution. NUPENG officials enforced the strike across Lagos, Warri, Port Harcourt, and Sokoto, sparking fears of looming fuel scarcity.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and other labour groups declared solidarity, warning of broader shutdowns if the dispute continues. Stakeholders are urging President Bola Tinubu to intervene before the crisis disrupts petroleum supply nationwide.
