The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially begun direct and free delivery of fuel products to retailers across Nigeria, aiming to ease distribution challenges and stabilise pump prices.

Sources close to the refinery revealed that licensed fuel marketers will now receive supplies without bearing transportation costs, as the refinery handles logistics from its Lekki base to designated depots nationwide.

“This is part of our commitment to ensuring steady supply and affordability of fuel across the country,” a source said. “By taking on the cost of shipping, we expect this to ease pressure on retailers and ultimately benefit end consumers.”

Industry analysts note that the initiative could disrupt traditional supply chains, reduce reliance on third-party transporters, and curb potential hoarding or price manipulation.

Africa’s largest single-train refinery, Dangote Refinery, began supplying diesel and aviation fuel earlier this year and has gradually expanded into petrol distribution. With this new shipping arrangement, retailers in remote areas are expected to get faster and more reliable access to fuel.

Marketers have started receiving allocations today, with full-scale nationwide distribution expected to roll out in the coming days.
