President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive to his officials not to make any foreign trips unless it was “deemed absolutely necessary”. A communication from the office of the president cited the need “for responsible fiscal management” in light of the difficult econmic situation the country is faced with. The president said exemptions would need his direct approval, which must be sought two weeks ahead of a planned trip.
Following his inauguration in May, Tinubu embarked on some major reforms – such as the removal of fuel subsidy – which analysts say have caused inflation.
