Has it ever occurred to you that something definitely influences how and what you think about money and how ultimately you treat your finances?
For many years , I didn’t have a clue about the influencing factor on how I managed my finances. I just knew I needed help as I was a reckless spender and more often that not, I couldn’t be accountable for my money.
Our upbringing, experiences, exposure, what we grew up seeing our parents do with money influence us directly or indirectly. A person who grew up seeing his or her parents talk ( and practice) savings, frugal living might likely end up growing to become a frugal person. The same thing applies to someone raised by spendthrift parents.
Having said all of that, everyone owes herself the duty of learning and doing the right things ultimately. To get a hold on your finance, it is necessary to understand the money personality type that best represents your person.
There are tons of Money Personality quizzes, but I’d encourage you to take this Money Personality Quiz. The quiz will show you which of five major money personality types most closely matches your own tendencies: Hoarder, Spender, Money Monk, Avoider, or Amasser and perhaps the sixth; the Money Worrier. I believe the result will answer some of the questions you probably have been asking on how you handle your finances. Share your result with me if you don’t mind!
Consider this…
-You give money in exchange for what you want
-What you want represents who you are
-Who you are is an expression of where and what you have been through
-Where you have been is attributable to your decisions or decisions taken on your behalf…..
-Decisions are products of your level of wisdom per time….
Look at this interesting scripture below.
Ecc 7:12 (Message Version)
Money is good no doubt.
Wisdom is better when it’s paired with money
Especially if you get both whilst you’re still living
Double protection; wisdom and wealth.
Plus this bonus: wisdom energizes it’s owner
Money is good but with wisdom, it’s better utilized……”
Money is a tool, a means of achieving your wants. Like a car that drives you around, your house that keeps you safe, your clothes that cover your nakedness, so is money; it’s useful to get whatever it is you want. You should however be in charge of your finances and not the other way round. Abundance or lack of it shouldn’t control you, make you sick, depressed or go overboard( too much money do make people do crazy things sometimes).
Get ready for your anticipated new levels; Be deliberate, Talk rich, Act rich, Dream big. An adage in yoruba says “what I will not accommodate when I’m rich, I will not accept when I’m poor”. Don’t allow people talk to you anyhow! Invest in a good wallet, get at least a note of the currencies you’d love to spend in their millions ( I like dollars, pounds and Canadian dollars) ; Set them properly in the wallet, prophesy daily on them. Let your wallet look and feel rich!
Have a good money attitude. You attract what you place good value on.
I leave you with this:
“Laughter and bread go together
And wine gives sparkle to life
But it’s money that makes the world go around”
Ecc 10:19( Message Version)
It’s a great day to be alive ….Woohoo!
