A non-governmental organizations, Civil Society Coalition for the Eradication of Poverty (CISCOPE) in partnership with OXFAM has disbursed N70 million to 2,050 households in Adamawa, Borno ad Yobe states.
Peter Egwudah, the programme manager of CISCOPE who spoke on Friday in Michika during the monetary distribution, lamented the neglect of millions of internally displaced persons living outside government designated camps, saying majority of insurgency victims had returned to their communities.
He called on international humanitarian organizations to extend their services to other states in North East, instead of concentrating their activities in Borno State.
“We have over 126 international NGOs in Maiduguri who are doing nothing. What they read or see on headline news in their countries is that there are over two million IDP’s in Nigeria who need water and food and they come with that in mind, but when they arrive they all go to Borno and get stuck there”, he stated.
