The United States Embassy in Nigeria says it will suspend routine posts on its official X account due to the ongoing U.S. government shutdown.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Embassy explained that the pause was caused by a “lapse in appropriations” after Congress failed to agree on a new budget, forcing many non-essential U.S. government services to scale back operations.
It clarified, however, that consular services such as visa and passport processing, will continue for now, though possible delays may occur if the funding standoff persists.
The Embassy added that only urgent safety and security updates will be shared during the shutdown, noting that the same measures are being applied at U.S. embassies worldwide.
