The Kogi State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old woman, Charity Williams, during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Oguda village, Okene Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, operatives attached to Okene Division stormed Yuwander Lodge following a tip-off about criminal activity in the area.

During the raid, police arrested Williams in a room reportedly booked by a suspect identified as Christopher Christopher Kadiri, who fled before the operation.

Items Recovered

The police recovered the following exhibits from the room:

• One locally made Beretta pistol
• One locally made barrel gun
• Six rounds of 9mm live ammunition
• Hard drugs
• An axe
• Four mobile phones
• ₦2,047,300 in cash

SP Aya confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down Kadiri and other members of the gang.

Related Raid in Ofu Division

In a separate operation, police operatives attached to Ofu Division recovered a locally made barrel gun, a cutlass, and a Tecno phone at Ogbakpedo village along the Itobe–Ayingba road. Suspected kidnappers reportedly abandoned the items and fled into the bush upon sighting the police.

Police Determined to Tackle Crime

Commending the officers for their efforts, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller G. Dantawaye, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying the fight against armed robbery, kidnapping, and related crimes across the state.

Security experts note that women are increasingly being drawn into criminal networks—often used to rent hideouts, transport cash, or conceal operations from security agencies.

Kogi State, which serves as a central route linking Nigeria’s North and South, has become a hotspot for armed robbery and kidnapping-for-ransom, making police raids on lodges and forest camps critical to disrupting these criminal networks.
