The Standard Bearer of the Vision for Liberia Transformation Party, Dr. Jeremiah Z. Whapoe, said the party is encouraging more female aspirants to run on the party’s ticket for the pending October 10, 2017 representative and presidential elections.
In a telephone interview with this paper, VOLT boss disclosed that the party has notice of females escaping the party to go to bigger or popular political parties.
According to him, there are sufficient slots reserved particularly for women who are aspiring for representative seats in the various district.
He revealed that hopefully today, the party will submit a total of 40 aspirants for the nomination process to the relevant authority at the National Elections Commission (NEC).
The VOLT flag bearer noted that those aspirants the party has vetted and qualified to contest on the ticket are potential winners of their various district, as they have worked and lived with the people over the years.
Dr. Whapoe stated that VOLT will continue to submit to NEC aspirants for the nomination process until the deadline expires.
The presidential hopeful disclosed that the party is not charging aspirants to contest on the party ticket, but rather provide the opportunity for those wishing for representatives seats to exercise their political franchise and they will strongly be supported by the party.
The Candidate Nomination for the 2017 October Presidential and Representatives Elections began on June 19, 2017 at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.
The key electoral date gives political parties and independent candidates the platform for inclusion on the ballot papers for the elections.
