Fear has reportedly gripped the people of Sasawa town and its surroundings in Yobe State, following the killing of two people by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The Islamist sect reportedly launched an attack at a military base in the agrarian community in Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State. An eyewitness said that the terrorist group stormed the town in five hilux vans around 6a.m., attacked the military base before carrying out a coordinated attack on the town.
The source claimed that two people were killed during the attack, which lasted for over five hours. Confirming the attack, Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeyemi Abdulmaliki, said he could not give details of the situation as the town has no means of communication.
According to him, “I can confirm to you that Sasawa town came under attack yesterday by Boko Haram, but there is no further detail for now. Meanwhile, a resident, who pleaded anonymity, informed Vanguard that security forces have since mobilised and are after the insurgents.
