Family Planning Association of Tanzania (UMATI) has issued 5m/- loan to five women groups in Mara Region under a project called Mobilising Action to safeguard rights of girls that is funded by FORWARD UK and Comic Relief, all from UK.
The loans will enable 50 young women who are either victims of child marriage or teenage pregnancy to establish small-income generating activities aimed at improving their living standards.
It was noted that the beneficiary groups were from five wards of Nyeigena, Nyakangi, Etaro,Kokerango, and Nyamimange in Musoma and Butiama Districts.
Handing over the loans on Wednesday in Musoma town, the UMATI Western Zonal Manager Mr Nyagwegwe Wango advised the women to make good use of the loans to make a difference on their lives. “Invest in profitable business and the business would help you to improve your living conditions,” said Mr Nyagwegwe.
Presiding over the occasion UMATI Project Coordinator Mr Barnabas Richard equally advised the women to see into it that the loans are used wisely and economically to alleviate poverty amongst them.
“We are providing 1m/- each per group to enable them start small business activities so that their living standards can improve,” said Mr Richard.
