The wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has urged parents, especially military officers, to give necessary attention and diligence to the education of their children.
She made the call after commissioning of Daycare, Nursery and Primary school built by the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) at the Mogadishu cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja.
Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, Mrs. Buhari said Nigerians are known for generosity, patriotism, morality and courtesy, and called on parents to imbibe the good virtues in their children.
She said any investment made by a nation on children is a wise investment for a nation’s growth and development.
She urged officers and men of the Armed Force to give due diligent to education of their children, as the military is known for patriotisms and focus, which she said should also be inculcated into the children.
She commended DEFOWA for building school, which she said would go a long way in improving quality of education in the country.
Earlier in her speech, President of DEPOWA, who is the wife of Chief of Defence Staff, Mrs. Omobolanle Olonisakin, said the foundation of the school was laid on May 15, 2015 by the wife of the Vice President, and was coincidentally commissioned by her.
She expressed appreciation to the wife of the President and wife of the Vice president for their contributions towards the completion of the school.
Those in attendance at occasion were the Chief of Defence staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, wife of the Chief of Army Staff, who is the President of NAOWA, Hajiya Umma Kalsum Tukur Buratai, wives of Defence and Army officers, wives of Police officers, and other dignitaries.
