Sexual violence against women in Africa has taken a new turn and there is serious eradication campaign going on. Africa has taken the bold step to support her women and fight against sexual violators. Recently,South Sudan vowed to fight against sexual violence and deal with every sexual violator in the country.
Zainab Hawa Bangura, the special representative of the secretary general for sexual Violence, explained in an interview with UN Radio.
She lamented that after several meeting with the president of South Africa and Sudan, Sexual violence has topped the charts of violence in africa.
“I am an African woman and I have seen how these women have suffered. They suffered through a [years-long] civil war. Then they celebrated, for the first time in their lives, after the country achieved independence, only to have their hopes and expectations shattered,” when the country subsequently plunged back into war, she said.
According to records the capital of South Sudan, Juba, has had 217 cases from july till date. Ms Bangura’s further said she will continue this fight against violence as long as she is in the UN and as a woman she will continue the cause for her sisters.
