In a video message released today by the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon to mark the International for the elimination of slavery and the transatlantic trade, he themed this years celebration as ‘Remember Slavery: Celebrating the Heritage and the Culture of the African Diaspora and its Root’. In his message, he pushed for thr recognition of the contribution of the African diaspora in medicine, science, government and all spheres of leadership. The message also emphasized the need for a newed resolve to combat modern day slavery and racism while celebrating the heritage of Africa that enhance societies around the World today.
