Having beautiful, healthy nails is one of the desires of everyone, especially women. Beautiful nails contribute in boosting one’s confidence, especially when one has to stretch forth their hand in an introduction. It is soothing to hear compliments about our nails from the person we are shaking hands with. But, dull, unhealthy, brittle nails make our confidence take the back seat.

Let’s share some factors responsible for rough, dry and unhealthy nails (in no particular order):

Too Much Usage Of Nail Polish.

A lot of us ladies try to use nail polish to cover unhealthy nails; while some of us are simply addicted to nail polish (can I get a witness?) As enchanting as some of these polishes are, we need to take it easy on the application.

Long Term Exposure To Chemicals Or Water.

Yes! I know that as women, we use our hands a lot, especially in the kitchen. We do our laundry, the dishes, other related chores, and we get our hands soaked in water. This is unavoidable, but you can prevent the water or chemical from damaging your nails by drying your nails immediately after you wash your hands, or after your hands have come in contact with water.

Unhealthy Diet.

The role of diet in our entire outlook cannot be overemphasized. A healthy nail diet consists of fruits, vegetables, protein-rich foods, water and calcium. Begin to take a glass of milk everyday and watch your nails transform from weak to strong and healthy.

Biting of nails.

If you are guilty of this, you need to stop, as it causes bacterial skin infections on the nails from your mouth.

Now you know some of the reasons why you have brittle nails.

As a woman, it is important to care for every part of your body. Not just the hair and face. That’s why we’ve compiled amazing D-I- Y tips and tricks to help your nails look the part…without breaking the bank.
