AW: A little about yourself

Our Guest : My name is Seun Tayo-Balogun. I  have degrees in political science and philosophy, economic management and policy. I have worked in the financial sector for quite a bit. I have served in fields like Policy Advocacy, communications. I can gladly say, I have ventured in a variety of things over the years.

AW:  Tell us your journey into creating Brief Essentials {BE}

Our Guest : It began when I was still working. We had an intern then and I was sharing with him about the difficulty in getting an underwear store in Nigeria. We had some but they weren’t home made.

So, this intern, took the idea up being fascinated and inspired by it, he said he was going to come up with a template for me and just like magic, he went and came with a screenshot of the website he created. I was surprised and at that very point, my vision came to life.  Then, we started looking for a name. We picked different names but my husband picked Brief Essentials for us and that’s how we started and we have been doing pretty well.

Overall, it made me learn a lot of things. I had to sit down and learn, relearn and unlearn.

AW: Is it just about underwear?

Our Guest :  The vision you have is the manifestation of the kind of person you are. Now, this first segment of ours is just about underwear which means the vision of who I am is beyond underwear because we all want to make and change something.  For us, we have a lot of women we have been able to engage which isn’t underwear related. We have helped women entrepreneurs in their businesses by building websites for them, grooming their ideas and helping them run their social media pages. The underwear is a part to different parts we are running for women.

Aw : What’s the vision for Brief Essentials in the next 5 years

Our Guest : We want to be the go to place for everyone to buy affordable, high quality, not easy to find lingerie pieces. Just go to www.briefessential.com. We are on that mission to make women get back in shape, be who they want to be and look amazingly beautiful.

AW : Are women conversant with their lingerie?

Our Guest : For the seven years we have been running this business, we have realized that many women don’t even know their sizes. They don’t even know what a bra size should be. So, apart from selling lingerie we have helped a lot of women to know their sizes, their body type and body shape. Most women deal with the appearance forgetting to understand that a detailed underwear enhances a beautiful appearance.

AW : What’s your advice to women and  womenpreneurs?

Our Guest : First of all, it doesn’t matter how old you are, you can be what you want to be. You can set your mind to be what you want to be and you can work towards achieving it. Most importantly, get your finances right. Have a good financial knowledge.
