Policeman, Boko Haram Terrorists Die In Borno clash

One police sergeant and scores of Boko Haram insurgents died, Wednesday night, as the terrorists invaded Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State in six Toyota Hilux vans mounted with anti-aircraft guns and several motorcycles

.Another police sergeant sustained gunshot wounds to his leg before the terrorists, who also set houses ablaze, were repelled by the military.Fleeing residents told newsmen that the insurgents, who were armed with AK-47 rifles, Molotov cocktails (petrol bombs) and other dangerous weapons, unleashed terror before they were confronted by troops of 8 Task Force Division, code-named Operation Lafiya Dole.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Isuku, confirmed that the attackers killed a mobile policeman, Sergeant Haliru Aliyu, deployed with the military in Magumeri on special duty, while another, Sergeant Lawrence Ayeni, sustained gunshot injury on his leg.

Isuku added: “A water tanker and a bus, belonging to Magumeri council, and two other vehicles were burnt. One Hilux vehicle mounted with anti-aircraft gun from the terrorists.”
