It was an inspiring moment for parents of tens of Bariga, Lagos-based child artists on Sunday evening when the state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, honoured them.

The young artists are members of Footprints of David, who used to hawk goods and wander about the Bariga area but have become celebrated singers and dancers.

The group that has also travelled to different parts of the world was founded by Seun Awobajo.

At a Children’s Day programme held at the State House in Alausa, Ikeja, Ambode commended the boys and girls but noted that he chose to specially acknowledge the parents for supporting Awobajo to develop their talents.

He said, “I want something that will serve as a payback to the parents. If  I honour them in the State House, it will inspire other parents.”

The programme that featured other performing groups such as Dream Cheaters and Q Dance also marked the Democracy Day and the governor’s three years in office.

At the event were a former Military Governor of the state, Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson (retd.); and the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, among other dignitaries.
