MEC Sikhumbuzo Kholwane Launches Barberton’s First Black Female-Owned Bakery

The MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Mr Sikhumbuzo Kholwane will on Monday, 26 March 2018, officially launch the first black female-owned bakery in Mpumalanga Province.

The Dli Wakho Mphuti bakery is one of the enterprises that are funded by the Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA) in line with its mandate of fostering the growth and development of SMMEs and cooperatives in the Province.Eric

The bakery is a 100% black-owned bakery, and specialises in baking and selling of confectionery products to the communities of Barberton and the surrounding areas. The bakery started operating on the 28th of September 2017 and currently produces 8000 to 9000 loaves per day which includes products such as bread, muffins, buns, scones, bread rolls, and more recently; pizza and red cakes.

According to the owner, Ms Constance Thabethe, the bakery has created 7 permanent jobs, and it receives a lot of support from both government and the community.
