The Women Corporate Directors (WCD) Foundation Nigeria Chapter has been launched.

Speaking at the event, the Director, KPMG Global Sales and Markets, Ciska Knight, said the foundation is the only global membership organisation and community of women corporate directors, stressing that in this new era of responsibility, WCD is committed, not just to good governance, but to governance with global vision.

She said the foundation helps make the challenges of being a director easier, improves your international knowledge and connections, and enables you to have more impact and influence on public policy and in the boardroom

In her remarks, the Co-chairman WCD, Mrs. Mosun Belo- Olusoga, said it is a privilege to be part of WCD, adding that as an organisation it is a responsibility for them to make sure that they have successors, adding that if there are no successors to build on the legacies they have left behind, it would be adjudged that they have failed.

She explained that if women in boardpositions perform very well, it would open the door for more women to be invited into top management andboards of organisations.

Belo- Olusoga added: “For me, we are privilege to have WCD. With privilege comes power and with power comes responsibility, therefore I take my role very seriously. This is a sisterhood for me to be myself, blossom and strive. The benefits of the WCD are incredible. One of the benefits for me is to learn from directors who have been at senior positions in directorship level. We have to encourage people coming behind us; we should make sure that they have opportunities to learn.”
