Happy New Year readers!! I hope you managed to have a good if not great festive season. I know it was very stressful for many people for various reasons. I can only hope and pray that those stresses are completely removed or at the very least alleviated in the New Year.  We all know of millions around the world who are dying, suffering, and have no chance of respite so we must continue to be full of gratitude and grace for what we have.

The past three months have been particularly joyful for me as I have been in Nigeria in the company of my beloved husband. The cherry on the cake has been having the opportunity to experience the warmth and authenticity of my culture. I have had many opportunities to explore a range of activities and prospects. I ate glorious traditional meals that I will hugely miss. I attended events and parties on a scale that I would have had to see them to believe them. Most importantly was the quality of time spent with friends, which has left me feeling enriched, uplifted and deeply blessed.

So I am particularly pleased that I start the New Year still on the shores of my beloved country, as I see it as symbolic and an indication that I will return shortly to continue my re assimilation back into this wonderful and wacky existence.

I was thinking about the start of the New Year and it is customary to think of new beginnings. While this is always a good way to think when approaching a new year, we rarely mention sustaining things that we have done in the last year that has worked. So I decided to start 2018 looking at those things I know I did well in 2017.

  • I know I made some humble impact on a few people’s lives…so I will continue on that path in 2018
  • I worked hard on leading a righteous life, as in trying to do what is right…so I will continue to work on this in 2018
  • I was open and willing to explore new and unfamiliar terrains…some of it was scary but mostly exhilarating, enlightening and inspiring…will continue on this quest in 2018
  • I took some leaps and trusted my instincts and abilities and I didn’t fall so I was empowered…I liked the feeling, so I will be bolder in 2018!
  • I worked hard on nurturing and nourishing trusted relationships…they were well worth the effort so will continue to invest in those relationships in 2018
  • I embraced and owned what I want my Ministry to look and feel like with no apologies. I surrended!….it is being divinely guided so my energies will be reinforced in 2018
  • I embarked on a regular gym and exercise routine with some other diet supplements…I surprised myself, liked the results so will try to maintain the lifestyle in 2018
  • My commitment to Above Whispers and our generous, wonderful readers has been a personal blessing….I want to reach out to more readers as well as remain connected to our loyal ones in 2018

Readers what did you do in 2017 that worked and that you plan or would like to do more of in 2018. Can you share?

^ May God bless and keep you from harm in 2018

^ May God guide you and give you the wisdom to live your life righteously in 2018

^ May God protect you from illness and suffering in 2018

^ May God point you on the path and direction of light, may he shield you from darkness in 2018

^ May God make your days of happiness and joy several and the days of sadness few in 2018

  1. Yeah well, last year was indeed great. I started growing a business and I intend to continue on that path this year. I think the most memorable part of the year was how much I’ve had to learn to be patient with myself and life generally.

  2. To me last year was good even though I couldn’t really achieve what I wanted but I am hopeful. I am grateful for life and the little blessings I enjoyed last year. I can only look forward to a great 2018

  3. Well, 2017 was a bit defining in some ways.
    Started a business
    Supported friends in their disciplines
Learned to depend and trust in God totally and not even on family.
Started a relationship, i should say one of my greatest highlight.

I am so sure 2018 would be far better.
    In God I trust.
