Reacting earlier on the matter, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cecilia Ojabo, said the strike was politically motivated, illegal, uncalled for and a calculated attempt to sabotage the healthcare delivery efforts of the government.

Meanwhile, in a statement declaring the strike, signed by the state NMA Chairman and Secretary, Dr. Obekpa Obekpa and Dr. Nwaeze Chukwuemeka, respectively, the body expressed dissatisfaction over the alleged subversive roles of some of its members in the course of the warning strike, and has been referred to the association’s disciplinary committee for necessary action.

72-hr warning strike in Jigawa Nursing College Also, sequel to the refusal of Jigawa State government to take disciplinary measures to curtail the unending feud at the state-owned College of Nursing and Midwifery, Birnin-Kudu, the Academic Staff Union of the college has declared a 72-hour warning strike.

The Provost of the college, Mrs. Aisha Kazaure, was reported to have slapped one of the directors, Hajia Halima, for insisting that she (the Provost) handover the affairs of nursing directorate to Halima, which resulted in the physical assault.

The strike notice was contained in a communiqué issued in Dutse, yesterday, by Abdullahi Adamu and Garba Adamu, NANNM Chairman and CONAMASU Chairman, respectively.
